My dear Brenna,
Two-hundred and fifteen tides, Brenna. Don't think I have forgotten the date. Darneth's loss is still a heavy loss to us all. I hope one day we can speak at length about him.
Yet, by the stone and stars, it is good to hear from you. I am glad that Highridge continues to bore you. I always said that place needed someone like you to wake those dusty old Callers out of their inertia; long may it continue.
This substance you speak of sounds fascinating. I understand Tomir's process, yet sometimes the simplest solution is not always the best. Think of the surge itself: would it not be easier to flood the marshes or Hural Empire, or shift to the flatlands of Shadowmend? Yet it forces, squeezes and exerts itself through the ravines of our land.
Brenna, storms are unpredictable, even to those who claim mastery over them. Do not let unease cloud your judgment. Yet, if this residue remains after the next rain, in any amount, collect it.
I will consult the oldest records of the Great Archive. I will avoid your name to Merrin Valrath, I don't think he has forgiven you yet for the incident with the 'stones'.
May the Tide guide you, as always.
Kash'tia
